Stratton Parish Council is a consultee on the planning application made by BT to remove the red telephone box in the village and the closing date for consultee comments was 5th August 2020. This gave SPC a short time to respond and the grounds on which it did so are available on the parish website under Announcements, dated 24th July 2020. However, the closing date for West Dorset (Dorset Council) to submit all comments to BT, not only those from consultees, is 7th October 2020.  After that date, BT will announce whether they plan to remove the telephone box or not.  It is hoped, as was the case last time the red telephone box was in jeopardy, that the request for the telephone and its equipment to remain will prevent its demise.  When the result of the decision is known and if the plan is to remove it, SPC will consider whether to purchase the box, without its equipment, and options for any future use to which it might be put.
