The requisite number of councillors required to administer the Parish of Stratton (Stratton Parish Council) is 7.  Currently, Stratton has only 4, who have either been duly elected or co-opted onto the Council.

The number of councillors required for a parish council meeting to be quorate in Stratton is 3.  Less than this and a parish council meeting cannot proceed.

At the last SPC meeting on January 16th 2018, only three councillors were able to be present. Whilst the meeting was quorate, it is plain to see that the continuance of Stratton Parish Council, managed by people who have been elected/co-opted and who live in and care for the village and the parish as a whole – as is the case at the moment –  is in some jeopardy.

Stratton Parish Council would like to hear from any resident (over the age of 18 and on the electoral roll) who would be interested in becoming a councillor. The current electoral term ends in 2019 when the council comes up for re-election.

If you would like more information about the role of a councillor and what it entails, please contact any current member of the council – contact details are on the Stratton Parish Council’s website at www.strattondorsetpc.org.uk – or the Parish Clerk by email at strattonpc@gmail.com, by letter to Manor Cottage, Stratton DT2 9RY or telephone: (01305) 264508.

Thank You
