Early on Thursday evening the Parish Council noticed that three youngsters on bicycles were having a great time on the village green, riding around creating a circuit track and carrying out skid turns.

Unfortunately, although the Council are happy that youngsters are out and about enjoying themselves, the youngsters appear to have totally disregarded the consequences that their activity was having.  We now find that the south-west corner of the village green has been churned up, badly marked, heavily compressed and has a channel and lumps of turf scattered all over the place.

Basically, it is now a total mess, which will take a long time to recover.   So…. will parents please warn their children to be sensible and responsible in what they do around the village. Their short-lived enjoyment has now caused a load of problems on how best to rectify the damage they have caused.

It should be noted that the village green is NOT in the best of condition at present as three months of solid rain has left the grass very thin and the ground saturated. Even people walking across the green are causing damage, so youngsters on bicycles are NOT required.

Would parents please check to see if it was their child who was out Thursday night, and ask them to stop cycling on the village green.  The area is shortly to be roped off, so that further damage is not caused, and the ground has some chance to recover.

Thank You
