Stratton Parish Council has not circulated any advice or information on Coronavirus Covid-19 to residents of the Parish.
There are several reasons for this:-
First, not being doctors, Parish Councillors have no experience, skills or knowledge about medical matters, about viruses in general and Covid -19 in particular.
Secondly, the Parish Council were given to understand that a local voluntary group, that included the Charminster area, was about to be set up to help and support vulnerable residents. It was indicated that an announcement of this initiative was to be expected very shortly. The Parish Council offered its full support and help to the group, although it appears that nothing has since transpired and no information has so far been circulated.
Thirdly, the amount of advice being circulated by National Government has been constant and regular, backed up by scientific and medical advice. There is nothing we, as a Parish Council, can add or do, over and above the government’s advice and directives. It is appreciated that parishioners are doing their utmost to follow the national advice and we can only ask all residents to continue to support and follow it to prevent the spread of the virus, ensuring that everyone in the parish and elsewhere is kept as safe as possible.
It is known that there are many in our community who work either directly or indirectly for the local NHS services. We offer these dedicated people, as well anyone else who is keeping our society afloat, our heartfelt thanks for all their efforts and hope that they remain healthy and safe during this difficult time. It goes without saying that we wish all our residents to remain safe and well, too.
The Parish Council continues to receive information about Coronavirus from the National Association of Local Councils, Dorset Council as well as the general information circulated by government for everyone. Any information that directly affects residents over and above the national information will be circulated on the Stratton Parish Council website at www.strattondorsetpc.org.uk and Facebook page as appropriate. SPC will not be circulating information which is not relevant – there is just too much of it. The Parish Council actively checks all information coming through to make sure that nothing applicable is missed.
