The red telephone box in the village, next to the church, has been saved from removal – again – and will continue as a working telephone box.

In September 2019, BT notified Dorset Council of its intention to remove 68 public payphones at various sites in the WDDC area.  This included the telephone box in Stratton.

Because Stratton Parish Council, as a local authority, made representation to keep it, the box will not now be taken away and, at the council’s request, will remain as a working box.

There may be another attempt in the future to again remove the box but for now it’s reprieved.

SPC has asked that the telephone box is cleaned and that should happen within the next 5 days.  Replacing the light will take longer as the parts for our old box are not available now and will have to be specially made.
