British Telecom has applied to Dorset Council to remove 68 telephone boxes in the previous West Dorset District Council area.

The planning application No: WD/D/19/002394, includes the removal of the red telephone box in Stratton village.

Stratton Parish Council is a only a consultee on planning applications and when a similar planning request was received by the council in 2016, the parish council asked residents how they wished the council to respond and there was overwhelming support for the telephone box to be retained.

The closing date for comments and representations on this planning application is 20th October 2019 which gives insufficient time for the parish council to run another survey to gauge whether the opinion of residents is still the same. So, as there was such strong support for retaining the telephone box last time, it has been decided by the parish council that it will again request that the telephone box remains in the village.

Anyone can comment on the planning application which can be found at: www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/planning.

If any resident wishes to contact Stratton Parish Council on this matter, please email us at strattonpc@gmail.com.
